National Underwriting Manager – Marine

About the role

As National Underwriting Manager Marine for Australia & New Zealand, you will lead the Marine portfolio across Commercial, Digital and Partnerships, driving profitable growth and underwriting excellence. You will partner with underwriting leaders to execute strategy and develop talent in a market‑facing role.

Key responsibilities

• Driving the delivery of profitable growth and underwriting performance across the Marine portfolio
• Leading the local execution of underwriting strategy aligned to global and regional priorities
• Coaching and developing underwriting talent while fostering a culture of learning and collaboration
• Building strong relationships with brokers, customers and key market stakeholders
• Using data and insights to support portfolio management, decision making and continuous improvement
• Collaborating across business units and functions to deliver customer‑focused solutions and business outcomes

Required profile

• Extensive technical underwriting experience within Marine insurance
• Proven leadership experience developing and managing high‑performing teams
• Demonstrated success delivering profitable growth and leading change in a complex insurance environment
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to influence business outcomes
• Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, customers and industry partners
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or professional insurance accreditation such as ANZIIF CIP
