Multiline Underwriter – Edupac (Education Insurance)

About the role
Join Zurich’s Edupac team to help build one of Australia’s largest specialist education insurance portfolios, working across Property, Liability, Motor, Financial Lines and Accident & Health for schools and educational institutions.
Key responsibilities
- Assess and underwrite new business, renewals and policy changes within agreed frameworks and delegated authority.
- Apply underwriting criteria consistently, identifying matters that require referral or escalation to senior underwriting specialists.
- Work across Property, Liability, Motor, Financial Lines and Accident and Health, building broader multi‑line underwriting capability.
- Build strong relationships with Aon and act as a trusted day‑to‑day contact for underwriting and policy administration matters.
- Deliver timely and accurate responses to broker enquiries, ensuring service commitments are met.
- Manage endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements and other policy adjustments efficiently.
- Collaborate with underwriting specialists, operations, claims and distribution teams to deliver positive customer outcomes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of underwriting frameworks, processes and documentation for the Edupac portfolio.
Required profile
- Exposure to Property, Liability, Motor or broader General Insurance underwriting (or experience as an Assistant Underwriter ready to progress).
- Understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment and ability to apply frameworks within delegated authority.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities and follow established processes.
- Confidence to identify matters requiring escalation and engage appropriate underwriting specialists.
- Experience building effective relationships with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Collaborative mindset with interest in developing capability across multiple lines of business.
- Resilience, empathy and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements in General Insurance.
