Mobile Processing Unit (MPU) Operator – Bowen Basin

About the role

Thiess is looking for an experienced Mobile Processing Unit (MPU) Operator to join the Olive Downs Complex, a coal mine located 40 km south‑east of Moranbah in the Bowen Basin. This is a permanent, onsite position working a 7/7 dayshift roster with occasional night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Operate under the direction of the Drill & Blast Supervisor, adhering to site‑specific safety requirements.
• Load blast holes safely and efficiently according to the blast design.
• Record explosives loaded on a hole‑by‑hole basis with high accuracy.
• Inspect equipment before use and ensure it is fit for operation.
• Report any defects discovered while operating machinery.
• Assist the Shotfirer in Charge when not performing primary duties.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within coal mining.
• Ability to operate a loader, bobcat and stemming truck.
• Current Queensland Explosives Security Clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Strong knowledge of explosive regulations and safety compliance.
• Valid driver’s licence and current Standard 11 certification.
