Mining Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mining Engineer to join our Wilpinjong open‑cut coal mine in New South Wales. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for short‑term load and haul scheduling and design to support safe and efficient mine operations.

Key responsibilities

• Promote site safety, environmental, health and quality standards in all mining activities.
• Develop and maintain short‑term (daily to weekly) load & haul schedules to meet production targets.
• Design and optimise haul roads, dump locations and loading areas using mine planning software.
• Collaborate with operations, drill & blast, and geology teams to ensure alignment of plans and execution.
• Monitor and adjust schedules based on operational feedback, equipment availability and changing conditions.
• Conduct regular pit inspections to validate designs and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Provide technical support to supervisors and operators regarding plan implementation and design intent.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives in mine planning and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• A degree in Mining Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation abilities.
• A staunch commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Experience with mine planning and design software (Vulcan preferred).
• Experience in open‑cut mining operations, preferably within the coal industry.
