Medical Practitioner – Aeromedical Retrieval (Port Hedland)

About the role

The Royal Flying Doctor Service WA is seeking a Medical Practitioner to join its Port Hedland team. This full‑time residential position offers the chance to deliver critical care, telehealth support and aeromedical retrieval services across the remote Pilbara region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide routine and emergency medical advice, telehealth support and clinical coordination for patients, clinicians and remote communities.
• Participate in aeromedical retrieval flights as part of a medical retrieval team, caring for critically ill and injured patients across Western Australia.
• Contribute to continuing medical education, clinical governance and quality improvement activities.

Required profile

• Registered, or eligible for registration, with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner.
• Broad postgraduate clinical experience, ideally in emergency medicine, anaesthetics, ICU, acute paediatrics or rural generalist practice.
• Confidence in independently managing critically ill and injured patients, including procedural skills relevant to critical care.
• Strong communication, teamwork and clinical judgement in complex and remote environments.
• Aeromedical retrieval experience is highly regarded but not essential.
