Mechanical/Structural Engineer – Hunter Class Frigate Program

About the role

Join the Hunter Class Frigate Program as a Mechanical/Structural Engineer, providing engineering support to production at Osborne Naval Shipyard. You will investigate technical issues, develop solutions, and ensure design changes comply with standards and configuration management.

Key responsibilities

• Review reported issues, conduct root‑cause analysis and engineering assessments.
• Assess engineering product definition, including CAD models, drawings, specifications and material requirements.
• Develop practical solutions to resolve design, manufacturing and production problems while maintaining compliance.
• Support implementation, verification and documentation of approved engineering changes.
• Manage production queries, non‑conformances, deviations and concessions.

Required profile

• Baseline Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
• Degree, diploma or relevant trade qualification in Mechanical, Structural, Manufacturing or related engineering discipline.
• Experience with structural, mechanical, manufacturing or fabrication processes.
• Proven ability to investigate and resolve technical issues in design or production.
