Mechanical Tradesperson Team Leader

About the role

Transport for NSW is recruiting a Mechanical Tradesperson Team Leader for its Dubbo Workshop. The role supervises a small crew of trades and non-trades staff who carry out maintenance and repairs on plant, vehicles and mechanical equipment, while performing the duties of a Mechanical Tradesperson Grade 1-3. It is an ongoing full-time, in-person position.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a team of trades and non-trades staff to keep heavy vehicle plant and equipment safe, and lead a small crew in maintenance and repairs
• Ensure team processes occur and quality objectives are met
• Facilitate team meetings, encourage engagement and suggestions for improvement, and run short-term planning and simple problem evaluation
• Handle conflict resolution, team development and ensure equity within the team
• Order materials and products, keep records, carry out work health and safety inspections and supervise minor contracts
• Be available for after-hours callouts and travel throughout the state to sites away from the base station

Required profile

• Qualified mechanical tradesperson with extended experience in installation, maintenance, repair, commissioning and modification of complex hydraulic and pneumatic machinery
• Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent, and experience with heavy vehicles
• Current Motor Vehicle Repair Industry licence, Construction Industry White Card and unrestricted NSW motor vehicle driver's licence; a Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) licence is required
• An AIS Examiners Ticket is highly desirable
• Previous leadership or safety committee experience is highly advantageous
• Must live within a reasonable distance of the Dubbo depot due to fatigue management requirements

• Salary of $1,848.70 per week
