Mechanical Engineering Technician – Maintenance

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to join the Maintenance team at our Mount Gambier manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work with state‑of‑the‑art equipment to support plant reliability and upgrades.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, assembly and installation of new or modified mechanical equipment, including machine tools, controls and hydraulic power systems.
• Perform fault finding, laboratory and field testing, and complex repairs on mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and mobile plant.
• Carry out mechanical installations in line with site and Australian standards.
• Organise and oversee inspection and maintenance of machines, providing reports on material cost estimates.
• Execute preventative maintenance tasks as directed by Mechanical Coordinators.
• Support equipment upgrades, new machinery installations and decommissioning of obsolete plant.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering Diploma or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in machine troubleshooting, problem solving and fault finding.
• Previous fabrication experience.
• Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Leadership or supervisory experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.
• Project management experience.
