Mechanical Engineer – Mineral Processing & Smelting

About the role

Glencore Technology is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its Brisbane team on a permanent basis. You will work on the design of mineral processing and smelting equipment, supporting the delivery of industry‑changing technologies to global clients.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed mechanical designs, engineering drawings, documentation, manuals, procurement and QA plans for processing and smelting plants.
• Coordinate a small team of designers across multiple concurrent projects.
• Develop project estimates, budgets and optimise designs for performance, cost and technical integrity.
• Identify innovative design solutions and drive continuous improvement.
• Work with vendors, suppliers and fabricators to meet QA requirements, inspections and factory acceptance testing.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship or residency.
• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of post‑graduate Australian experience, preferably in mineral processing or smelting equipment design.
• Eligibility to apply for RPEQ registration within the next 2–3 years.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
