Mechanical and Structures Engineer

About the role

Northrop Grumman Australia's Engineering & Technical Services team is looking for an Engineer in Mechanical and Structures. The role connects technical information from the OEM and other stakeholders with the technicians and maintainers who keep the aircraft fleet operating safely and effectively. It suits early-career aerospace, mechanical or mechatronics engineers and offers exposure to aircraft sustainment, engineering investigations, modifications and Defence aviation processes. The position is based in Springfield or Pinkenba near Brisbane Airport, Queensland, with hybrid working and a 9-day fortnight option.

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside experienced aerospace engineers and build capability across aircraft sustainment, airworthiness and technical support.
• Act as the link between Airbus engineering information and the technicians maintaining the KC-30A fleet.
• Contribute to engineering investigations, maintenance improvements and technical problem solving that support aircraft availability.
• Help shape new Defence-specific systems and processes and understand how a major sustainment program operates.
• Develop the knowledge, experience and engineering authority needed to progress a career in Defence aviation.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship is mandatory, and the ability to gain and retain NV1 clearance is required.
• Recent Aerospace, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering graduate with one to three years' experience.
• Experience may come from an internship, placement, part-time role or graduate position; aviation experience is not required.
• Naturally curious, willing to learn from experienced engineers and able to apply university learning to real engineering challenges.
