Manager, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HSE leader to shape safety, risk and environmental strategy for a national organisation undergoing rapid growth in Australia’s energy transition. Reporting to the Head of HSE & Risk, you will lead a team of specialists and provide executive‑level insight across a high‑risk operational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve the Health, Safety & Environment operating model.
• Provide governance, assurance and oversight for safety, business continuity, emergency management, incident investigation and environmental programmes.
• Develop and mature HSE management systems, reporting frameworks, critical risk controls and performance metrics.
• Prepare executive and board‑level reports translating complex risk data into actionable business insights.
• Manage a high‑performing team of HSE professionals, fostering a strong safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and ISO frameworks.
• Oversee injury management and return‑to‑work processes.

Required profile

• Strategic, commercially minded senior leader with extensive experience in high‑risk industries such as energy or utilities.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cultural change.
• Strong track record of delivering continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
