Manager, Financial Analysis and Strategy

About the role

Economic Development Queensland (EDQ), a Queensland Government agency, is looking for a Manager to lead financial analysis and strategy. You will lead high-level financial analysis, modelling and forecasting to support strategic investment, commercial and operational decisions, build and maintain the agency's in-house budget model and drive real-time reporting that shapes executive decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Build, maintain and evolve the budget and finance model as the business grows
• Deliver financial analysis, modelling, forecasting and scenario analysis for investment, commercial and operational decisions
• Partner with business units and project teams on budgets, estimates and financial advice
• Automate reporting and build real-time Power BI dashboards and performance reports for senior management
• Improve financial processes, controls and governance across the organisation
• Prepare business cases, financial assessments and briefings for executives and governance bodies
• Oversee a small team, with scope to grow it as the function expands

Required profile

• Governance and systems background; methodical, self-motivated and a clear communicator
• Government experience is essential; a mix of government and private sector experience is ideal
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, Business, Applied Finance or a related discipline; a CA or CPA qualification is highly regarded

Required skills

• Financial analysis and modelling, including assessments and recommendations for senior leaders
• Strong governance, process and controls experience with a solid grasp of accounting principles
• Power BI modelling, reporting and dashboard development
• Working knowledge of SAP and Power Platform, including Power Automate
• Confidence presenting complex financial information to executives
