Manager - Data Strategy

About the role

The Queensland Department of Education is seeking a proactive Manager – Data Strategy to bridge business strategy and data analytics. You will work closely with schools, regional offices and internal business areas to understand their priorities and translate those needs into user‑friendly data products such as Power BI dashboards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead ongoing engagement with schools, regional offices and business units to capture strategic priorities and improvement agendas.
• Identify key performance measures and translate them into specifications for next‑generation business intelligence products.
• Collaborate with data and analytics professionals to design and deliver dashboards and reports that support decision‑making.
• Act as a champion for data‑driven decision‑making across the department, ensuring solutions are aligned with frontline needs.
• Contribute to the evolution of the department’s data strategy as the function matures.

Required profile

• Strategic thinker with strong stakeholder‑engagement and communication skills.
• Curious, logical and creative mindset, eager to learn about data and analytics.
• Ability to translate user needs into clear, actionable product requirements.
• Experience working in or with education or public‑sector environments is advantageous.
