Manager, Cyber Security Operations Centre

About the role

Monash University is seeking a senior leader to manage its 24x7 Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC). The role drives operational excellence, standardises processes and ensures the CSOC can respond to evolving cyber threats across cloud, identity, SaaS, supply‑chain and AI‑enabled risks.

Key responsibilities

• Define and monitor KPIs, service metrics and reporting to continuously improve CSOC performance.
• Act as senior escalation point during major cyber incidents, coordinating response, communication and executive decision support.
• Standardise and optimise the CSOC operating model, aligning it with organisational risk appetite, regulatory obligations and strategic priorities.
• Engage with senior stakeholders, presenting operational insights, risk posture and performance outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading or managing a Security Operations Centre in a complex, globally connected enterprise.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to influence senior audiences.
• Demonstrated ownership of operational performance, KPI definition and data‑driven reporting.
• Experience leading major cyber incident responses and coordinating with external partners.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001/27002, NIST and CIS.
• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and modern threat‑landscape concepts.
• Expertise across detection, response, investigation and CSIRT functions.
• Experience working with third‑party providers or managed security services.
