Management Consultant, Finance Transformation

About the role

As a Management Consultant in Deloitte’s Finance Consulting team in Canberra, you will work alongside the firm’s brightest minds to analyse and redesign finance functions for Federal Government agencies. The role focuses on delivering end‑to‑end finance transformation, from designing change to managing implementation and providing assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead diverse, collaborative teams through finance transformation journeys for government clients.
• Develop thought‑leadership and innovative solutions that address clients’ most pressing finance challenges.
• Design, deliver and manage change initiatives, ensuring alignment with long‑term organisational goals.
• Generate insights and high‑quality reporting to add value throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide assurance and support around cost control, budgeting and change management.

Required profile

• Professional experience in a finance consulting environment.
• Analytical background (e.g., Commerce, Finance, Actuarial, Data, Engineering) with interest in capability cost estimation.
• Experience with financial systems used in Defence such as SAP, ROMAN, BORIS, TM1 (IBRIS).
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and cost‑management/estimation applications.
• Strong communication, planning and organisational skills, with the ability to produce high‑quality project reporting.
