Management Accountant

About the role

This position is for a commercially‑minded Management Accountant based in Melbourne’s north‑west. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will support operational and leadership teams with financial reporting, cash‑flow management, job costing, forecasting and business insights.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post month‑end journals across multiple entities.
• Manage job costing processes, including revenue accruals, write‑offs, reporting and analysis.
• Complete balance‑sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Maintain cash‑flow reporting and produce rolling cash‑flow forecasts.
• Handle inter‑company allocations and loan reconciliations.
• Partner with Project Managers and operational leaders to provide financial insights for decision‑making.
• Assist with Business Activity Statements (BAS) preparation and statutory compliance.
• Support external audit by preparing schedules and responding to queries.
• Review internal control processes, including delegation of authority compliance.
• Provide ad‑hoc assistance to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions.
• Identify and implement process‑improvement initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified.
• Minimum five years’ experience in accounting, management accounting or a similar finance role.
• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, taxation compliance and financial controls.
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to develop practical financial models and reporting tools.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and commercial acumen.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
