Mainstream Education Assistant (Early Childhood)

About the role

Kulin District High School, an independent public school in Western Australia's Wheatbelt region serving students from Kindergarten to Year 10, is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Mainstream Education Assistant for its early childhood team. This is a permanent part-time position (0.6 FTE) starting in Term 1, 2027. The assistant works alongside early childhood teachers to support children's learning, wellbeing and participation in classroom activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation, delivery and evaluation of developmentally appropriate learning programs
• Support individual children and small groups, and facilitate play-based learning experiences
• Encourage curiosity and exploration, and help children develop social, emotional, physical and communication skills
• Foster independence, confidence and positive relationships
• Help with daily routines, prepare learning resources and keep the environment organised, engaging and safe

Required profile

• Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment
• Valid Working with Children Check obtained before starting
• Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and a current Screening Clearance Number
• Caring, patient, proactive and adaptable, with initiative in supporting daily routines

• Organisational skills to deliver effective educational programs
• Ability to support the general health and wellbeing of students
