Logistics Operator – Ocean Freight

About the role

Expeditors, a global logistics company headquartered in Seattle and a Fortune 500 employer, is hiring a Logistics Operator in Keilor East. The role ensures the timely and accurate movement of ocean import and export freight and information, while providing exceptional customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with customers, international agents, carriers and service providers to arrange transportation and keep shipments moving efficiently from origin to destination.
• Work with Customer Service, Cartage and Accounting to handle import and export shipments and resolve operational issues.
• Manage and monitor ocean import and export files so milestones, documentation and shipping details stay accurate in the system.
• Track and trace shipments, following up on delays, exceptions and outstanding information.
• Prepare, review and process import and export shipping documentation accurately and on time.
• Use workflow monitors and reporting tools to manage daily shipments, priorities and outstanding tasks.
• Follow customer and company procedures, escalating changes under the guidance of the Supervisor/Manager.
• Maintain effective communication with customers, overseas offices, agents, carriers and service providers, and respond promptly to emails and requests.
• Process and reconcile service provider invoices and charges, and give timely shipment updates to customers.
• Take part in team meetings, training sessions and performance reviews.

Required profile

• Experience in ocean import and/or export operations within the freight forwarding industry.
• Full and unrestricted working rights in Australia.
• Willingness to learn and develop knowledge across both ocean import and export operations.

• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple shipments and tasks at once.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to the team.
