Lifeguard - Kununurra Leisure Centre

About the role

The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley is looking for fit and motivated Lifeguards to join its Leisure Centre team. The role supervises all water bodies at the Kununurra Leisure Centre Swimming Pool and Splash Park so that a safe and enjoyable environment is provided for patrons. It reports to the Kununurra Leisure Centre Team Leader and works within the standards and procedures set by the team leader.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all water bodies and provide lifeguard, first aid and emergency assistance where necessary
• Monitor patron behaviour and follow procedures for dealing with inappropriate behaviour
• Provide a high level of customer service and give customers information on centre programs and services
• Help maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the centre, including assisting with cleaning of pools, grounds and change rooms
• Assist with or oversee children's events such as swim school, children's parties and school holiday programs
• Carry out administration tasks and keep records in line with the State Records Act 2000
• Follow workplace health and safety requirements and report hazards and injuries

Required profile

• Current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid Certificate
• Royal Life Saving WA Pool Lifeguard qualification or equivalent approved by Royal Life Saving WA
• Current resuscitation qualification
• Current WA Working with Children Check
• Well-developed water rescue and resuscitation skills, including deep and shallow water rescues
• Strong communication and customer service skills, teamwork and knowledge of basic computer programs
• Legally entitled to work in Australia, with a National Police Clearance before interviews

Desirable: 1 year's experience in a similar role and a Swim Teacher qualification. Vaccinations required: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and DTPa.
