Legal & Governance Advisor

About the role

The National Basketball League is seeking a Legal & Governance Advisor to support the Chief Corporate & Governance Officer. This fixed‑term position offers direct exposure to board and governance committees while working within a fast‑growing sports organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare board and Governance & Risk Committee papers.
• Lead and support governance projects and policy implementation.
• Assist the company secretarial function across NBL Group entities, including resolutions, minutes and agendas.
• Support corporate structuring matters for the NBL Group.
• Draft, negotiate and finalise commercial agreements.
• Conduct legal research and provide timely advice.
• Work onsite in Cremorne 3‑4 days per week with an immediate start.

Required profile

• Admitted Australian legal practitioner with 5‑8 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong grounding in corporate governance, compliance and litigation support.
• Confident drafting of board papers, policies and resolutions.
• Comfortable negotiating commercial agreements end‑to‑end.
• High level of discretion, confidentiality and ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
