Legal Counsel – Major Projects (Front-End)

About the role

This position is for an experienced Legal Counsel to join the front‑end team of a major construction firm in Sydney. You will work closely with senior project, commercial and executive stakeholders, providing legal and commercial advice from tendering through to contract mobilisation.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate major construction and infrastructure contracts.
• Advise on tenders, bids, procurement strategies and project risk allocation.
• Negotiate head contracts, consultant agreements, sub‑contracts and related documentation.
• Provide guidance on liability, indemnities, insurance, warranties and security arrangements.
• Identify contractual risks and develop pragmatic solutions with the business.
• Build trusted relationships with project directors, commercial managers and procurement teams.

Required profile

• 5–7 years post‑admission experience in construction or infrastructure law.
• Strong front‑end experience advising contractors, developers or government bodies.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and contract management abilities.
• Demonstrated commercial judgement and solution‑focused advice.
• Confidence to interact directly with senior commercial and project stakeholders.
