Legal Counsel

About the role

Brighte is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its fast‑growing consumer energy platform. The role focuses on high‑impact commercial contracting, regulatory compliance and building self‑serve legal capabilities across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end commercial contracting for vendors, SaaS, suppliers, referrals, integrations and data‑sharing agreements, negotiating directly where needed and ensuring proper sign‑offs.
• Maintain and update customer‑facing credit and product documentation to stay aligned with consumer‑credit regulations and coordinate system updates with Product.
• Partner with Risk & Compliance to translate regulatory changes into operational controls for responsible lending, design and distribution, privacy and consumer data, and manage occasional disputes or regulator engagements.
• Reduce reliance on external lawyers by improving templates, playbooks and thresholds, supervising AI‑assisted review, managing legal intake via Jira and providing clear performance metrics.
• Leverage AI tools to draft, review, summarise and triage legal work while verifying source material and protecting privileged information.

Required profile

• Admission to practise law in New South Wales, Australia with a current practising certificate.
• Approximately 2–4 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to work autonomously in a lean, fast‑moving environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AI‑assisted legal tools.
• Experience using Jira for legal intake and workflow management.
