Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Critical Minerals & Geochemistry

About the role

The Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES) at ANU seeks a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to lead a research programme on critical minerals, geochemistry and experimental petrology. The successful candidate will develop an internationally recognised research agenda and contribute to teaching and student supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and lead a research program on metal behaviour in Earth materials.
• Publish high‑quality research in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Secure external research funding and build national/international collaborations.
• Supervise undergraduate, Honours, Masters and HDR students.
• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including labs, field work and curriculum development.

Required profile

• PhD in Earth sciences or a closely related discipline.
• Expertise in experimental petrology, analytical inorganic geochemistry, or high‑pressure/high‑temperature experimentation relevant to critical mineral systems.
• For Level B: emerging international research profile with high‑quality publications.
• For Level C: strong growing international profile, research leadership and competitive external funding.
• Collegial, ambitious and collaborative attitude with commitment to teaching excellence.
