Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in AI and Communication

About the role

We are seeking an outstanding academic to join the School of Communication and Arts as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence and Communication. The role is based at our St Lucia campus and begins in January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses on AI and communication, including curriculum design and assessment.
• Lead research programmes that examine the ethical, cultural, economic and organisational impacts of AI on media and communication industries.
• Secure and manage research funding, publish in peer‑reviewed journals and collaborate with industry and community partners.
• Supervise Honours and higher‑degree research students and contribute to their professional development.
• Engage in university service, build external partnerships and mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent research experience in AI, communication, media studies or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated record of high‑quality research and scholarly publications.
• Experience in teaching or curriculum development at the tertiary level.
• Ability to attract research funding and work collaboratively across disciplines.

Required skills

• Expertise in assessing AI tools and their integration within media and communication contexts.
• Knowledge of ethical frameworks, governance and responsible AI.
• Understanding of intellectual property, creativity and labour issues related to AI automation.
• Insight into organisational, economic and cultural impacts of AI on communication processes.
