Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (Design & Built Environment)

About the role

The School of Design and Built Environment at Curtin University is seeking academics for continuing Lecturer and Senior Lecturer positions (full-time or part-time) that contribute to teaching, curriculum development, research and community engagement across design and built environment disciplines. The roles support culturally responsive learning and include teaching the postgraduate unit Boola Kaardidiny Bidi (INDS5016), which covers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, knowledge systems and contemporary experiences, with emphasis on Noongar perspectives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and support culturally responsive teaching across DBE units, reflecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges, perspectives and ways of being
• Develop curriculum, assessment and learning activities that strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander content and culturally safe approaches
• Engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, industry and academic colleagues to support culturally grounded teaching, research and scholarship

Required profile

• Recognised expertise in practice, scholarship, research, teaching or leadership that supports the School's priorities
• Experience in teaching, scholarship, research or professional practice aligned with DBE's priorities
• Permanent work rights in Australia; continuing positions require this
• Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance and background, integrity and reference checks

Required skills

• Co-design and participatory design with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
• Creative practices such as fashion design, graphic design, industrial design, photography, architecture, interior architecture, landscape architecture and urban design
• Built environment fields such as environmental engineering, construction management, planning and geography

What we offer

• Lecturer pay of $121,857-$144,352 and Senior Lecturer pay of $148,847-$171,344 plus 17% superannuation, pro rata for part-time
• Flexible work arrangements, including the option for part-time work and remote or other campus locations
• Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Leave (5 days), annual leave (20 days), personal leave (14 days), parental leave (26 weeks for the primary caregiver), study leave and community service leave
• 17.5% leave loading, with the option to be paid out
