Lecturer in Economics – Fixed‑term (3 years)

About the role

The University of Sydney School of Economics seeks a full‑time Lecturer in Economics on a three‑year fixed‑term contract. The position combines teaching, research and academic service, with a focus on macroeconomics and related fields.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, integrating current research into the curriculum.
• Conduct and publish original research in macroeconomics, econometrics, international or financial economics, or related areas.
• Contribute to departmental governance, leadership and community engagement (approximately 20% of workload).
• Develop inclusive and engaging learning environments that support diverse student needs.

Required profile

• PhD in Economics or a closely related discipline (e.g., econometrics, international economics, public economics).
• Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning, including team‑teaching and curriculum development.
• Evidence of a developing independent research agenda with peer‑reviewed outputs.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
