Leading Hand (Temp to Perm) - Waste Recovery Site

About the role

A leading provider of environmental and waste management services is looking for an experienced Leading Hand to support its waste recovery and product destruction facilities in Welshpool. The role involves overseeing daily site activities, coordinating tasks and supporting the Site Supervisor, and can include supervisory duties when the supervisor is absent. It is advertised as a temp-to-perm opportunity after 36 months with WorkPac.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a key point of contact between site employees and the Site Supervisor
• Coordinate daily job tasks so operations run efficiently
• Report faults and issues with mobile and fixed plant such as loaders, balers, product destruction units, excavators and forklifts
• Monitor team performance and ensure tasks meet the required standard
• Assist the Site Supervisor with forecasting, productivity, maintenance, transport and logistics
• Provide training, guidance and support to employees
• Ensure employees follow workplace health, safety and environmental requirements and promote safe work practices
• Troubleshoot operational issues and solve problems

Required profile

• Current Australian Class C driver's licence
• Previous experience in a leading hand, team leader or supervisory role highly regarded
• Strong communication, interpersonal and team-building skills
• Sound understanding of workplace health, safety and environmental procedures
• Physically fit and able to work independently with minimal supervision

Required skills

• Current Forklift Licence (High Risk Work Licence)
• Front End Loader, Material Handler, Working at Heights and EWP tickets, or willingness to obtain them
• Ability to coordinate workloads and manage competing priorities

What we offer

• $51.49 per hour plus superannuation (base rate plus penalties)
• Monday to Saturday roster with plenty of overtime available; penalty rates after 7.6 hours Monday to Friday
