Leading Hand – Site Construction & Maintenance

About the role

DCOH is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to coordinate and execute construction, maintenance and repair activities on site in Darwin. You will lead a crew, ensure safety compliance and deliver quality work across a range of building tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead by example, providing hands‑on support for construction, alteration and repair works.
• Interpret plans, specifications and material requirements to drive efficient project delivery.
• Coordinate daily site activities, manage labour, materials, tools and equipment.
• Monitor safety, conduct housekeeping and maintain clean, organised work areas.
• Mentor team members, promote a positive site culture and act as the communication link between site personnel and management.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Leading Hand or senior labourer in construction.
• Strong practical skills across general building, maintenance and repair.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and work instructions.
• Current White Card, Australian driver’s licence and relevant plant licences.
• Physical fitness to safely perform manual construction tasks.
