Leading Hand - Defects (Carpentry)

About the role

Parkview is looking for a Leading Hand - Defects in Sydney, a role suited to a trade-qualified carpenter with strong supervisory experience who enjoys problem-solving, defect rectification and delivering excellent customer outcomes. You will oversee the investigation, coordination and rectification of complex building defects across completed projects, working closely with subcontractors, consultants, clients and internal stakeholders to identify root causes and deliver high-quality, safe results.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and manage complex building defects and rectification works, identifying root causes through onsite testing.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors carrying out remedial works and monitor their progress.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations on defect issues.
• Ensure works meet quality assurance, building compliance and safety requirements.
• Obtain quotations, monitor costs and assist with cost recovery.
• Coordinate trades and resources efficiently and conduct site inductions in line with WHS requirements.
• Help identify systemic defects and contribute to lessons learnt and training programs.

Required profile

• Carpentry trade qualification or a related building trade.
• Construction Induction (White Card).
• Previous experience supervising trades in construction.
• Strong knowledge of building construction methods and defect rectification.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to read plans, investigate technical issues and develop practical solutions.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety and quality workmanship.
