About the role
Robert Bird Group (RBG), a member of the SJ Group, is looking for a Lead Structural Technician / Drafter to join its Adelaide office. The role involves managing a team of technicians, delivering high‑quality building and structure projects, and supporting business development across a strong pipeline of work.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical and leadership guidance across the team’s portfolio.
- Contribute to projects at a project‑management or review level to ensure timely and quality delivery.
- Lead and develop the technician team, overseeing performance, resourcing, retention and professional growth.
- Assist in shaping the group business plan and implement team‑specific components.
Required profile
- Relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Minimum 10+ years of industry experience in drafting and structural work.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor and train junior staff.
- Ability to prepare technical reports and contribute to proposals.
- Proven track record in a similar leadership role and a passion for building trusted relationships.
