Lead Pharmacist – General Medicine

About the role

The Grade 4 Lead Pharmacist – General Medicine will head the pharmacy team within the General Medicine program at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. This full‑time fixed‑term position (until October 2027) combines advanced clinical practice with people leadership to improve patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred clinical pharmacy services and optimise medication management.
• Lead, mentor and support pharmacists, technicians, interns and students.
• Coordinate the General Medicine pharmacy team to meet KPIs and patient‑centred outcomes.
• Drive quality‑improvement, medication safety and quality‑use‑of‑medicines initiatives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders across the hospital.
• Participate in on‑call, after‑hours and weekend pharmacy services.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with AHPRA.
• Master of Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
• Minimum eight years of hospital pharmacy experience delivering clinical services.
• Proven experience leading, supervising and developing a pharmacy team.
• Strong stakeholder‑engagement and relationship‑building abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
