Lead Penetration Tester – Government Projects

About the role

Profectus is seeking experienced Lead Penetration Testers to support upcoming Australian Government engagements. In this senior role you will plan, lead and execute penetration testing across ICT applications and gateway infrastructure, delivering clear insights into vulnerabilities and advising on remediation.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and drive penetration testing of ICT applications and gateway infrastructure within a defined area of activity.
• Develop specific test plans and procedures and coordinate their execution.
• Apply a range of penetration testing techniques, frameworks and tools, including commercial and bespoke solutions.
• Deliver objective insights into vulnerabilities, defenses and mitigating controls.
• Record approaches, techniques and results with clear, accurate reporting.
• Recommend technical solutions for identified vulnerabilities.
• Provide authoritative advice and guidance across all aspects of penetration testing.
• Contribute to security testing standards and introduce new testing approaches.
• Support simulated attack exercises and related assurance activities.
• Collaborate with security, engineering and stakeholder teams to strengthen network security.

Required profile

• Proven experience planning and leading complex penetration testing without close supervision.
• Strong hands‑on capability with penetration testing techniques, frameworks and tools.
• Experience testing ICT applications and gateway or network infrastructure.
• Ability to produce clear, evidence‑based reports and practical remediation recommendations.
• Experience providing specialist advice to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Sound understanding of digital forensic principles and evidence handling.
• Ability to take responsibility for testing integrity and lead others when required.
