Lead Mechanical Engineer – Industrial Projects

About the role

Aurecon is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership on industrial projects across mining, resources, water and defence sectors in Perth. You will drive the design and delivery of pump stations, pipelines and piping systems, ensuring safe, buildable and compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design delivery for pumping and piping packages from concept through construction support.
• Develop and review datasheets, specifications, scopes of work, design reports, calculations and drawings.
• Provide technical leadership on pump selection, system hydraulics, NPSH, controls, operability and maintainability.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces with process, civil, electrical, drafting and BIM teams.
• Support project delivery against timeframes and budgets, managing scope, risk and priorities.
• Drive Safety in Design and brownfield integration with site stakeholders, contractors and vendors.
• Mentor junior engineers and uplift team capability.

Required profile

• Strong background in industrial mechanical engineering within mining, resources, water or defence environments.
• Proven experience leading pump, pipeline and piping scopes, including design reviews and vendor coordination.
• Demonstrated ability to work to Australian legislation, Australian Standards and client specifications.
• Confidence in defining project scope, cost and schedule inputs and collaborating with project managers.
