Lead Mechanical Engineer – Industrial (Perth)

About the role

We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership on industrial projects in Perth. The role focuses on pumps, pump stations, pipelines and piping systems within sustaining‑capital and brownfield environments for the resources and defence sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical design for pumping and piping packages from concept through detailed design and construction support.
• Develop and review datasheets, specifications, scopes of work, design reports, calculations and drawings.
• Lead pump selection and system design, including duty/standby philosophies, hydraulics, NPSH, control interfaces, operability and maintainability.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces with process, civil/structural, electrical/EI&C and BIM teams, including offshore inputs.
• Support project delivery to schedule and budget, managing scope, risk and priorities across multiple fronts.
• Drive Safety in Design and constructability, working closely with site stakeholders, contractors and vendors.
• Mentor junior engineers and uplift team capability.

Required profile

• Strong background in industrial mechanical engineering within mining, resources, water or defence environments.
• Proven experience leading pump, pipeline and piping scopes, including design reviews and vendor coordination.
• Demonstrated ability to work to Australian legislation, standards and client specifications.
• Confidence in project fundamentals such as scope definition, cost and schedule inputs, and collaboration with project managers.
• Excellent communication and a proactive, solutions‑focused approach.
