Lead Mechanical Engineer – Industrial

About the role

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer in Aurecon's Industrial Systems team, you will drive engineering solutions for complex industrial projects across mining, manufacturing, oil & gas, and energy sectors. Based in Brisbane, you will work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑impact outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with clients to deliver innovative, practical engineering solutions on complex projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve technical challenges and ensure integrated project delivery.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, guiding technical discussions and aligning designs with operational and commercial goals.
• Guide and review the work of engineers and designers, ensuring high‑quality mechanical design, procurement documentation, 3D models, and construction deliverables.
• Mentor emerging engineers through coaching, knowledge sharing, and performance feedback.
• Support business development by preparing proposals, engineering estimates, and capital cost assessments.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering degree and RPEQ registration (or eligibility).
• Extensive experience delivering industrial projects in mining, manufacturing, oil & gas, or energy.
• Strategic thinking with a proven ability to evaluate options and develop value‑adding solutions.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of industry standards, regulations, and engineering practices for industrial facilities.
• Demonstrated track record of applying project delivery methodologies in technically complex environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative leadership style.
