Lead Electrical Engineer - Energy

About the role

As a Lead Electrical Engineer in Aurecon’s Energy team in Brisbane, you will drive the delivery of innovative electrical solutions that support critical infrastructure and Australia’s energy transition. You will lead the analysis and design of large medium‑voltage embedded networks across sectors such as defence, airports, hospitals, mining and battery energy storage.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for power system analysis, protection schemes, substation and electrical network design.
• Partner with clients to understand challenges and develop future‑focused solutions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex projects from concept through commissioning.
• Support business development by shaping winning proposals and building trusted client relationships.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a high‑performing team culture.
• Drive technical innovation, continuous improvement and engineering excellence across projects.

Required profile

• Relevant Electrical Engineering qualification.
• 10+ years experience in electrical power systems analysis and design of large medium‑voltage networks.
• Proven experience delivering projects in energy, mining, defence, airports, hospitals or utilities.
• Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle from feasibility to construction support.
• Excellent communication skills with a collaborative leadership style.
