About the role
This permanent full‑time position (80 hours per fortnight) is within the Pharmacy Department of the Royal Children’s Hospital. The Lead Clinical Pharmacist will provide professional and operational leadership to the Oncology Pharmacy team, maintain an advanced clinical practice role, and drive medication safety, quality improvement, research and strategic initiatives for paediatric oncology patients.
Key responsibilities
- Lead specialist oncology pharmacy services across the Children’s Cancer Centre, ensuring high‑quality patient care, medication safety and continuous quality improvement.
- Provide leadership, mentorship and performance support to a team of oncology pharmacists, fostering professional growth and workforce capability.
- Drive strategic projects, service development initiatives and research activities that improve outcomes for children receiving cancer therapy.
- Develop and maintain multidisciplinary partnerships and represent the hospital in state, national and international oncology pharmacy forums.
- Monitor high‑cost oncology medication expenditure and support financial stewardship for sustainable service delivery.
Required profile
- Bachelor of Pharmacy and current registration with AHPRA.
- Postgraduate Master’s qualification in a relevant discipline or significant progress towards completion.
- Demonstrated experience leading clinical teams and driving service improvement initiatives within a complex healthcare environment.
- Extensive experience in oncology pharmacy practice with strong clinical, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
