Lead Civil Engineer, Power Generation

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer to join its Power Generation team in Sydney. You will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering high‑quality substation and renewable energy infrastructure, ensuring safety, reliability and sustainability across large‑scale HV projects.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop concept and detailed designs for substations, BESS, solar and wind projects.
• Design earthworks, roads, drainage, foundations and layout plans for HV infrastructure.
• Produce and review detailed civil engineering designs, reports, technical specifications and related documentation.
• Review and interrogate civil design models using Civil3D and 12D.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk analyses and site assessments.
• Participate in engineering, design and construction review processes, providing technical guidance.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, client guidelines and regulations.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders to drive project success.
• Support digital engineering initiatives and promote innovative, efficient solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading civil engineering design for power generation or HV infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of substation, BESS, solar and wind project requirements.
• Ability to guide junior engineers and collaborate across disciplines.
• Excellent communication skills for client and stakeholder engagement.
• Commitment to sustainability and innovative engineering practices.
