Lead Application Security Engineer

About the role

You will provide technical leadership on complex application security initiatives, establish engineering standards and mentor security professionals across ANZ’s technology divisions.

Key responsibilities

• Act as senior subject‑matter expert for application security across the organisation.
• Lead security reviews, threat‑modeling sessions and secure design assessments for critical initiatives.
• Define and maintain secure coding standards, security patterns and engineering guidance.
• Drive adoption of Secure‑by‑Design principles and embed security controls into CI/CD pipelines.
• Establish enterprise approaches for SAST, SCA, secrets management and application security tooling.
• Coach and mentor Application Security Engineers, fostering capability development.
• Promote continuous improvement and the use of AI‑powered application security technologies.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in application security principles, secure software development and vulnerability remediation.
• Extensive experience conducting complex secure code reviews and application security assessments.
• Strong knowledge of common software vulnerabilities, exploit techniques and remediation strategies.
• Proficiency with frameworks and standards such as OWASP Top 10, ASVS, SAMM and NIST SSDF.
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions and drive security outcomes across multiple engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and mentoring capabilities.
