Lawyer - Commercial Litigation

About the role

We are seeking an Australian‑qualified lawyer to join an iconic Australian service provider’s in‑house legal team in Melbourne on a six‑month contract, with a strong possibility of extension. The role offers a fast‑paced environment where you will handle a diverse mix of litigation and commercial matters, providing practical legal support to internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support across litigation and dispute‑related matters.
• Assist with general commercial work, including contract review, drafting and advice.
• Support internal stakeholders on day‑to‑day legal issues, balancing risk with commercial priorities.
• Manage matters efficiently in a busy, fast‑moving environment.
• Draft, review and negotiate a variety of legal documents and correspondence.
• Collaborate with broader legal and business teams to deliver timely, practical advice.
• Step into matters quickly and provide hands‑on support with minimal ramp‑up time.

Required profile

• Australian‑qualified and admitted lawyer with experience in both litigation and general commercial matters.
• Available to start immediately or on short notice.
• Comfortable working in a short‑term, flexible contract.
• Strong drafting, communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a broader team.
• Practical, down‑to‑earth approach and willingness to jump in where needed.
• Based in Melbourne or able to work from Melbourne for the assignment (hybrid).
• Unrestricted working rights in Australia (no sponsorship available).
