Lawyer – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Role Supporting Survivors

About the role

Knowmore is seeking a compassionate lawyer to join a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, providing legal information and advice to survivors of institutional child sexual abuse and Stolen Generations. The role is centred on trauma‑informed, culturally safe practice and aims to help clients navigate complex redress schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver accurate legal information and assistance to clients applying for redress under national schemes.
• Collaborate with social workers, financial counsellors, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement teams to ensure holistic support.
• Maintain detailed case records while respecting client confidentiality and dignity.
• Stay informed about relevant legislation, policy updates, and procedural requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with a strong commitment to social justice and survivor‑centred practice.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with clients experiencing trauma.
• Experience in redress, personal injury, human rights, administrative law, community legal services, or First Nations justice issues is highly regarded.
