About the role
Join SGS's busy laboratory team as a Laboratory Assistant focused on sample preparation. You will support routine analysis of soil, water and air samples, ensuring efficient turnaround times in a hands‑on, physical environment.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake routine sample preparation for soil, water and air analyses.
- Handle acids, solvents and other reagents safely according to procedures.
- Prepare standards and reagents, accurately record data and results.
- Assist chemists and supervisors with tasks such as loading instruments and waste disposal.
- Ensure work is completed on time, meeting due dates and priorities.
Required profile
- Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (or equivalent qualification).
- Around 1–2 years of laboratory experience, preferably in sample preparation.
- Methodical, reliable and comfortable with hands‑on, physical laboratory work.
- Flexibility to work shifts and adapt to changing workload requirements.
Required skills
- Sample preparation techniques for soil, water and air.
- Safe handling of acids, solvents and laboratory reagents.
