Laboratory Assistant - Geochemistry

About the role

Geochemistry Stafford is looking for a motivated Laboratory Assistant to join its Specialty Assay Section. The role involves digestion and fusion procedures and helping to keep workflows efficient. Training is given on day shift, after which the position moves to afternoon shift, with working hours of 1pm to 9:15pm.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately measure, record and maintain laboratory data and documentation, ensuring full traceability of samples and test results.
• Weigh samples for digestion and fusion processes.
• Carry out fusion and digestion procedures according to written standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Operate laboratory equipment safely and accurately in line with approved methods and training.
• Maintain equipment, testing apparatus and the work area, keeping them clean, functional and compliant with quality standards.
• Monitor consumables, report shortages, and help prepare reagents and test materials.
• Comply with safety, environmental and quality management requirements and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Ideally experience in a laboratory, analytical or mineral processing environment.
• Understanding of laboratory workflows, quality systems and safe working practices.
• Strong attention to detail and good communication skills, able to work in a team.
• Ability to organise work, manage priorities and support effective job allocation.
• Citizen or permanent resident of the country of application, or able to obtain a valid working visa.
