Kitchen Steward

About the role

Pullman Cairns International, a five-star hotel in Cairns, Queensland, is looking for a reliable and motivated Kitchen Steward on a casual basis. The role supports the chefs and Food & Beverage teams by keeping the kitchen clean, safe and well organised, so that guests receive excellent dining experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation across the kitchen, storage and back-of-house areas.
• Wash and sanitise dishes, utensils, equipment and cookware.
• Clean kitchen equipment and workspaces in line with food safety standards.
• Support chefs and kitchen team members during service periods.
• Assist with preparation tasks and make sure kitchen areas are ready for service.
• Manage waste disposal and recycling according to hotel procedures.
• Follow workplace health, safety and hygiene standards at all times.
• Support the wider Food & Beverage team to keep daily operations running smoothly.

Required profile

• Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a busy kitchen environment.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in your work.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment.
• Good communication skills and a reliable approach.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential.
