About the role
The Investigations Manager leads the Statewide Investigations directorate, providing strategic and operational direction to ensure investigations are conducted with the highest standards of quality, timeliness and integrity.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational guidance to investigation teams in line with OIR procedures and performance standards.
- Offer expert advice to the Director of Statewide Investigations, the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor and other senior stakeholders on complex enforcement matters.
- Represent WHSQ in legal proceedings before Industrial Magistrates, Courts, Tribunals or Coroners.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships across government agencies, industry groups and external stakeholders.
- Implement OIR policies on HR management, injury prevention, workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and diversity.
- Mentor and coach inspectors and investigators, contributing to training development and delivery.
- Model professional and ethical behaviour in accordance with the Queensland Public Service legislative framework and Code of Conduct.
- Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the team.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in leading investigations and enforcement actions within a public‑service or regulatory environment.
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation and prosecution processes.
- Proven ability to provide strategic advice to senior executives and legal counsel.
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills for representing the agency in courts and tribunals.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards, diversity and employee wellbeing.
