Investigations Manager

About the role

The Safety Investigation Unit (SIIU) is looking for an experienced Investigations Manager to lead a team of eight investigators handling complex safety incidents in Queensland's resources sector. You will provide strategic direction, ensure rigorous application of investigative procedures, and maintain high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing team of investigators.
• Oversee all phases of investigations, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.
• Build and sustain transparent relationships with key stakeholders, including the Office of the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor.
• Communicate findings and decisions clearly and confidently, representing SIIU with credibility.
• Manage operational requirements such as out‑of‑hours work, remote site travel, and work in adverse conditions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in law‑enforcement, workplace or regulatory investigations.
• Minimum 12 years of investigative experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong regulatory knowledge and ability to interpret complex legislation.
• Current Australian driver’s licence; ability to travel on short notice to remote locations.
• Professionalism, strategic thinking and initiative.
