Infection Prevention & Control Manager

About the role

The Infection Prevention & Control Manager leads the IP&C team at Austin Health, overseeing operations across three campuses and regional pathology sites. This senior nursing role ensures a microbiologically safe environment for patients, staff and visitors while delivering evidence‑based care that meets professional, legal and ethical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the Infection Prevention & Control (IP&C) team.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing clinical team aligned with Austin Health’s core values.
• Ensure delivery of evidence‑based practices that comply with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS) and Standard 3.
• Coordinate IP&C services across three campuses and regional pathology sites.
• Develop, implement and monitor policies and procedures related to infection prevention.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Proven leadership and management experience in a clinical setting.
• Ability to develop and manage a high‑performing team.
• Strong understanding of AS5369 and its application to infection prevention.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience writing reports and policy documents.
