Indigenous Liaison Officer

About the role

St Monica's College, a Catholic secondary day and boarding school for young women in Cairns, is seeking an Indigenous Liaison Officer. The role is a term-time position of 20 hours per week during school terms, running from Term 1, 2027 until 23 January 2027, at SOF Level 4 ($36.98 to $38.14 gross per hour). It is open to applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a communication and liaison link between diocesan schools, Catholic Education Services and local First Nations people, communities and agencies to improve student engagement and outcomes for First Nations students.
• Share knowledge of First Nations histories, languages and cultures within the school to promote respect and harmony.
• Work in collaboration with school staff and the school Principal.

Required profile

• Candidates must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander; the employer claims exemption under the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act, Section 25 (Genuine Occupational Requirement).
• Hold a Working with Children Blue Card.
• Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education.
