Human Resources Coordinator

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Human Resources Coordinator to support Southern Cross Education Institute’s growth across its vocational and higher‑education campuses. Reporting to the Director/CEO, you will ensure HR processes are efficient, compliant and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment, from job advertising to offer preparation and contract issuance.
• Coordinate onboarding, induction programmes and probation reviews for new hires.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases in line with privacy and legislative requirements.
• Support performance review cycles and related documentation.
• Track staff leave, entitlements and address payroll‑related HR queries.
• Handle staff exits, including documentation, exit interviews and record updates.
• Review and keep job descriptions current across all departments.
• Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act 2009, National Employment Standards and education sector regulations.
• Maintain HR policies, procedures and staff handbooks; assist with internal and external audits.
• Manage training records, professional development tracking and WHS compliance.
• Provide timely HR support to staff, managers and senior leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in HR administration or coordination.
• Strong knowledge of Australian workplace legislation, including the Fair Work Act and NES.
• Experience handling recruitment, onboarding, employee records and HR compliance.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills with a detail‑oriented approach.
