HR & Payroll Officer

About the role

McCorry Brown Earthmoving, a family-owned civil construction, earthmoving and concrete supply business active in the Broome and Kimberley community for over 35 years, is looking for a friendly, motivated and well-organised HR & Payroll Officer. This is a varied, hands-on full-time role in Broome, where you will help keep payroll and HR processes running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end weekly payroll across three related entities
• Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and awards
• Coordinate employee onboarding, offboarding and employment documentation
• Prepare and update employment contracts, position descriptions and company policies
• Support employee performance reviews and general HR activities
• Assist employees and managers with payroll and HR enquiries
• Contribute to payroll system improvements and an upcoming system implementation
• Keep track of deadlines, follow up outstanding matters and identify process improvements

Required profile

• Ideally experience in payroll processing and HR administration
• Sound understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards and superannuation requirements
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks and see them through
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
• Proactive, willing to learn and with a genuine team spirit

Required skills

• Experience with MYOB or similar payroll systems (highly regarded)
